Observe the electric field when no charge is added then click on the Properties button and insert a charge of magnitude -1.0 and of mass 1.0. You will need to click on Done to exit the Property button and set the values of the charge magnitude and mass. You may need to click add to insert the charge. Notice the electric field now.

1.    To where does the electric field point?

 

2.    What can you say about the magnitude of the electric field (represented by the length of the arrows) near the negative change in comparison to the magnitude of the electric field for points further away from the charge?

 

3.    How does the electric field change as you move the negative charge amount the electric field?

 

4.    Next, remove the charge and in the properties setting change the charge to a magnitude of -5.0. What happens overall to the magnitude of the forces?
