Task outline Time restricted assessment Submission The submission deadline for this assessment is 1800hrs BST on 8. April deadline/attendance date 2022. The 24 hour grace period is applied to this submission therefore submissions will be accepted until 1800hrs BST on 9u' April 2022. Submission/attendance The assessment should be submitted through the turnitin link on the instructions 308BMS aula page. 
You will be required to answer two from three of the short essay style questions below, each question is worth an equal amount of marks. The taught material from the module should inform your answers but you will be required to include information presented in relevant published literature to complete this assessment. Work presented should synthesise information from these sources and presented in your own words. 
01. Using one bacterial species of your choice, identify and discuss how two different attachment mechanisms contribute to the pathogenesis of that particular pathogen. You should support your answer with literature that supports the extent to which that mechanism contributes to pathogenesis. 
Q2. The successful roll out of an mRNA based vaccine for COVID-19 has led to the same (mRNA) approach being applied to develop a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine. Critically discuss the results of these trials and the impact on getting a fully approved RSV vaccine in comparison to alternative vaccine strategies. 
Q3. Over the last 20 years there has been a significant decrease in the number of deaths due to malaria worldwide. However, over the last few years progress has stalled, and the number of deaths has started to increase. Discuss some of the approaches that have helped to reduce malaria death rates as well as some of the factors that have contributed to recent increases.
