ME113 Project -The goal of the project is to design an experimental apparatus to study and demonstrate one or more principles of fluid mechanics that you have studied in this class. You will work in groups of two to do this project. If the project is sufficiently complex, you can ask permission to increase the group size to four. Be creative and innovative. Your deliverable will be a 15-page report. Format: 12pt Times New Roman font, double spaced, 1 inch margin all around. If you are doing a 4-person project then the report can be 20-pages. The report must have a cover page with the title and the name of the students. You must also include references. The title page and the reference page don’t count towards the page limit. You will submit a report containing the following: 1. Background of the theory/principle that you are exploring. 2. The requirements of the device you are designing. 3. The design (include sketches and schematics) 4. Analysis of the design. 5. Procedure to conduct the experiment 6. Detailed design including CAD models and parts list. You may need to select sensors and other gages as needed. You should be possible to purchase and fabricate your design from your specifications, although you don’t have to do for this project. Indeed, if your design is feasible and interesting, then I’ll be happy to fund you to construct the design. Construction however is not needed. 7. If there are too many CAD drawings, then you can add an appendix.
