Assignment Description
This assignment represents 50% of the total marks for this module.
Econometrics is the quantitative application of statistical and mathematical models using data to develop theories or test existing hypotheses in economics and to forecast future trends from historical data. It subjects real-world data to statistical trials and then compares and contrasts the results against the theory or theories being tested. Depending on whether you are interested in testing an existing theory or in using existing data to develop a new hypothesis based on those observations, econometrics can be subdivided into two major categories: theoretical and applied.
Any series of observations ordered along a single dimension, such as time, may be thought of as a time series. The emphasis in time series analysis is the study of dependence among the observations at different points in time. Many economic and financial variables, such as prices, wages, sales, GDP and its components, stock returns, interest rates, and foreign exchange rates, are observed over time; in addition to being interested in the interrelationships among such variables, we are also concerned with relationships among the current and past values of one or more of them, that is, relationships over time. The file “Dataset” contains data including respective dependent and independent variables.
Based on received data and identified variables you are required to:
Write a short report of 2500 to 3500 words (including text, diagrams, tables, references, and appendix). You are advised to write the essay in sections, e.g., Introduction, Methodology, and Results, Conclusion.
