Answer ALL questions

Question 1

A research report starts by introducing the “problem” that the researcher is addressing. This

“Statement of the problem” appears in the opening paragraphs of a research report.  Researchers write about a study’s necessity in the “statement of the problem” passage of a research report. A statement of the problem is an argument at the beginning of a research report that justifies why the research study was needed. It is called the “statement of the problem” because the researcher identifies a problem and argues that a particular research study is needed to address this problem

(Clark and Cresswell, 2015).

Define what is a research problem. Explain the key steps or elements that comprise a good statement of the problem.

Question 4

The Saunders Research onion illustrates the stages involved in the development of a research work and was developed by Saunders et al, (2015). In other words, the onion layers give a more detailed description of the stages of a research process. It provides an effective progression through which a research methodology can be designed. Its usefulness lies in its adaptability for almost any type of research methodology and can be used in a variety of contexts (Bryman, 2012). Saunders et al (2015) noted that while using research onion one must go from the outer layer to the inner layer. When viewed from the outside, each layer of the onion describes a more detailed stage of the research process (Saunders et al., 2015). Saunders et al (2015) sees research process as unwrapping of an onion layer by layer, for the inner layer to be seen the outer layer must be unwrapped first. For a goal to be achieved the right steps must be taken accordingly, this applies in research, cover one step first before proceeding to another. See diagram below:

Based on the research title you intend to propose, explain your research methodology based on the layers of the research ‘onion, by Saunders et al. (2015). You are required to explain each ‘layer’ or stages of your research methodology based on the layers or stages shown in the research ‘onion ‘starting with philosophy.
