Challenges and Successes

In the previous weeks of this class, I have engaged in content-focused learning to apply critical thinking and research in strategic planning. This learning approach includes online lectures and interactions with the instructor (Becker et al., 2019). Therefore, I could get information on how to organize and design the strategic plan. I also learned about strategic planning through the assigned readings/texts. The content-focused learning method allowed for reflection of the weekly discussions hence improved my knowledge in strategic planning. I also engaged in per review with my classmates, thus learning more on developing strategic plans by reading and understanding the view of other students.

The learning aspects that readily came to me were problem-solving and reasoning skills. During the class, I engaged in community assessment to determine the needs of the neighborhood Philadelphia Corporation of Aging (PCA) served. Hence, I applied my critical thinking and reasoning skills to assess the crucial needs of the senior adults in the community (Murdoch et al., 2017). I also displayed effective inquiry and evaluation skills throughout the learning process. I believe these learning activities were easier as I had prior knowledge of strategic planning hence knew how to approach the process.

However, I found it challenging to process some of the information from my classmates while giving peer responses to their discussion posts. This learning aspect was quite difficult since I was not familiar with the type and mandate of the organization these students had chosen. I also found it challenging to learn through the simulated process. Although I managed to complete the strategic plan, it was challenging in the initial stages.
