Two Discussion Questions

1). Meaningful work

Meaningful work has three concepts that define it: finding a job that gives employees motivation and meaning in life, work that contributes to career development and personal development, and excites employees even to achieve great heights in their area of duties. Meaningful work is, therefore, one that enables organizations to achieve exponential growth in the market. Meaningful work could exist in two forms, whereby employees bring the sense to an organization where they are employed. Another concept is where the organization itself excels at establishing meaningful workplaces. Organizations that create meaningful workplaces excel in the market both in revenue and having a pool of highly skilled workers.

Meaningful work can be measured through a formula known as the Work and Meaning Inventory. There are various ways of making work meaningful for employees working in an organization. One way could be through fulfilling individual professional dreams (Bailey et al., 2017). Many workers would find significance in work that enables them to improve themselves in their profession. Organizations should thus provide their employees with advancement platforms like career advancement programs. As a result, the organization will be able to retain its pool of highly experienced employees. Through the development of meaningful workplaces and organizations will have helped fulfill professional dreams.

Meaningful work may also impact career goals through celebrating personal traits. Meaningful workplaces provide platforms for showcasing their talents outside professional jobs. Therefore, the talents can be nurtured into many productive things that may even advance the organization into another level of success. Organizations should consequently blur the boundary between work and personal life because employees also have a life outside work that is meaningful to them and requires recognition. Meaningful workplaces also provide a platform for mentorship and professional relationship. Benchmarking is one way through which employees gain professional skills.

Meaningful work is mainly associated with participation and contribution instead of pure enjoyment that should be the case. As a result, employees who bring a sense of meaningful work tend to put more effort and are often stressed to achieve increased production. Meaningful work develops workers into socially responsible partners at work (Bailey et al., 2017). Professional relationships are built in meaningful workplaces, and through the relations, employees get to gain new skills from colleagues working in the same department but from different organizations. Through creating and maintaining professional relationships, connections are made that enable employees to further their career advancement.

Employees who perceive work and roles as meaningful will always thirst for training to advance their skills even if they are sick. It gives them the motivation to work more and gain more in terms of skills and experience. As a result, it becomes easy for them to advance their career goals instead of organizations that don't support meaningful work. Meaningful work also influences career goal development through hard work and patience. Employees who perceive work as meaningful are always patient and hardworking while on duty. Hard work and patience are two qualities employers are looking for while trying to fill in job vacancies.

Employees who perceive work as meaningful are mainly involved with community programs that aim to give back to society. Therefore, it is fundamental to conserve the environment within which an organization operates. Caring for people is a quality that not everybody embraces in the community. However, under a meaningful work environment, employees get to learn such vital attributes.

2). Ways of searching for jobs

There are various ways of searching for jobs that could land someone in a dream job. I have used several ways to look for jobs, but very few have been successful. Networking is one effective way of looking for job opportunities. Not all job vacancies are advertised on media platforms hence could only be known through socializing. Networking has once landed me on a contractual job that helped me financially at some point in life. Knowing people who know other important people is very important in life. Friends and relatives could act as a connection between unemployment and employment for many students. It is thus very important to create and maintain new professional relationships.

Company websites are also important for searching and securing job opportunities and even Co-op chances (Jones et al., 20219). If I know my dream employer, it would be wise to go straight to the company's website and frequently check for vacancies. If there are vacancies, it becomes a great opportunity to present qualifications for selection. There are also many ways of searching for job opportunities like internships, job fairs, referrals, and job boards. Searching for jobs is not easy because it has many obstacles, but it is important to overcome the barriers. I have used various means to overcome the challenges, like increasing my professional friendship circle.

Having more friends working in different organizations is a concept that has helped me overcome the obstacle of being unemployed. The creation of more professional relationships results in connections and linkups to more job opportunities. I also regard my job search activity as a career-building process instead of suffering moments. This has helped me in having the quality of patience both career-wise and personal view. While job search is a hard task, people should utilize it to build and strengthen professional relationships.
