Question one

Like any other professionals, the police must undergo intensive training to acquire the skills and knowledge to do their work efficiently. The fact that they strap on guns does not call for excessive use of force. Police officers must be aware of their surroundings to react immediately in case of any danger. Simple police procedures such as traffic stops should not result in deaths. Today’s officers also have access to public information and can quickly tell how to handle a particular person based on their criminal record. Re-training the police on the use of emotional intelligence can help avoid gun-related violence and innocent deaths.

Question two

I agree that any position held by an individual in the criminal justice system requires one to follow laid-out ethical conduct. The police also experience more challenges because of more interactions with the public and thus must always act as per public expectations. However, I believe that all people in criminal justice must act in the interest of justice. With increased media bias, the work of police has become more complex. If all players in the system worked towards upholding the law, the public would be safer.
