Decisions are useless if implementation is impossible. Organizational culture can impede decision making and implementation at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Therefore, cultural evaluation is necessary. To accomplish this, you will define a method, complete an analysis, identify the organization’s complexity and risk tolerance, and create an action plan. [MO 3.1, MO 3.2, MO 3.3]

Instructions

Write a 10- to 14-page paper (2500 to 3850 words) in APA format. Do not exceed 14 pages (not including the title page or references).

Use the headings below when completing this written assignment. You must use at least ten references in this paper; nine of these references need to be sources not provided in the course. Six of these sources must be scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles; three references can be white papers published by professional organizations (e.g., Society for Human Resources Management). No blogs, wikis, or news websites will be accepted.

• Introduce the entire paper (not just the problem). Use the following two resources to assist you: How to Write a Good Introduction and Beginning the Academic Essay. Tip: Write the introduction last. Complete the rest of the paper and then come back to write the introduction.

• Create a clear and concise overview of the relevant context.

• Define the scope of the problem and decision(s) that need to be made related to the organizational context.

Organizational Culture

Subheading: Culture Analysis [maximum 3 pages]

• Summarize the model for culture analysis that you will be using and why it is relevant for this evaluation.
• Complete a thorough culture analysis. Be concise and use visuals (e.g., tables, figures) where appropriate.

Subheading: Organizational Complexity [maximum 2 pages]

• Using the culture analysis, articulate the level of organizational complexity and how this impacts the decision-making process related to strategic, tactical, and operational decisions.

Subheading: Risk Tolerance [maximum 1 page]

• Choose a method for evaluating risk tolerance. (You may also find it useful to define risk appetite for the organization.) In addition, using the culture analysis and level of organizational complexity, articulate the risk tolerance level of the organization. Be sure to use data analysis to support your evaluation including support from outside sources.

Conclusion [maximum 1 page]

• Clearly and concisely wrap up the paper. Use the following to assist you: Ending the Essay: Conclusions.
