Talk about employers and/or people you met, and networking opportunities you developed. What are some of the benefits for some of your colleagues to attend these types of events to build their networks? Option 3: Join a Professional Group Have you considered joining a local Linux user group or your local ISSA chapter? How about a hacker space local to your area (Unallocated Space is local to central Maryland); the UMGC Cyber Padawans, the university’s competition team; or a similar group? These are excellent opportunities to network and meet with people, many who know of job opportunities at their places of employment. State the group you have joined and describe your experiences with the group (what resources did you gain access to, job leads, etc.). What is your plan for making the most of it in the future? Option 4: Other Networking Events and Opportunities Networking is simply sharing information about careers and jobs with others, so you can network with other students, family friends, professors, supervisors, and professionals you meet at career fairs or other events. UMGC’s office of career services offers ongoing job fairs and events, both in-person and online. Have you had a chance to attend one at UMGC or another job fair? Attending the Black Hat IT conference was one of the most insightful career events I have ever attended. The conference featured in-depth technical hands-on courses on crucial topics such as offensive security, penetration testing, infrastructure hacking, mobile application security, and automotive electrical systems. The conference mainly featured cyber security issues and the different innovations being developed to combat the problem. I noted one significant insight that cyber security is a progressive issue, as unscrupulous individuals keep developing new techniques to attack people's information systems. This implies that information systems thrive on continued innovation. I met various information technology experts at the conferences, such as IBM's vice president and Microsoft Chief Financial Officer. Both of them shared the strategies their companies apply to shield themselves from cyber security issues. The conference was an exposure to various learn new concepts in cyber-security.

The conference gives individuals many opportunities to network by meeting with industry professionals from different backgrounds and regions. The courses are rare as they mainly involve specialization; thus, having a certificate for any course is crucial in the job market. The information technology industry is one of the most lucrative industries in the recent past, considering many companies are automating their production processes to improve efficiency and production capacity. I want to be a chief information officer in a manufacturing or technology company. A CIO is responsible for the formation and computer technologies' management, implementation, and usability (McLaughlin, 2020). My primary goal as a CIO in a company is to promote and implement new information technology products based on the trends in the information technology industry. Information technology products change after every 3 to four years. For this, a company needs to upgrade its information technology infrastructure to maintain its efficiency. My other objective is to enlighten employees on the importance of information technology in a company and the strategies they should apply to protect a firm's information technology infrastructure from infringement. Most hackers utilize loopholes employees create unknowingly. Achieving the objectives requires hard work and dedication as it takes several promotions to be hired as a chief information officer. The post is highly competitive but achievable through healthy networks, dedication, and commitment in the workplace.

Essentially, the figure varies based on the size and complexity of the firm's information technology system. I am undertaking a bachelor's degree in computer science. I intend to undertake a master's degree in cyber security afterward. I ensure I attend professional conferences to learn new ideas on cyber security, as they will help me later in my career. Becoming a chief information officer is a process that requires hard work, disciple, and utmost professionalism.
