Role of the Teacher in Early Childhood Environment

The role of the teacher in an early childhood environment is to nurture the intellectual development of the children and, in addition, nurture their physical capabilities through plays. Pre-school is an essential component of early childhood education. It is at this level that youngsters learn more about themselves and understand the schooling environment. However, early childhood education cannot be successful without the presence of a pre-school teacher. Pre-school teachers adopt various approaches to assist little ones in developing intellectually and physically, and emotionally. The success of these children throughout their first years in school is built on a good relationship with the teachers (Jones et al., .2015).

Creativity, passion, and dedication are the words I can use to describe the qualities of my pre-school teacher who had a positive effect on me. As a child, I had an introverted personality which my teacher converted to an extroverted personality. My teacher used social approaches to influence and develop my character from an introvert to a socializer. She allowed me to socialize with my classmates by having me play lead roles on projects and plays, impacting my character positively. In addition, my teacher helped in the cultivation of my communication skills as a youngster. I collectively regard my teacher as a coach, mentor, role model, and facilitator. As a teacher, the main lesson I can learn from my pre-school teacher and her experience in an early childhood environment is passion and dedication towards my students and my career. These qualities would help build my relationship with learners and foster my career growth as a teacher.
