Hello Everyone,

Objective and measurements are the first steps in training and development. Understanding the need and what specifically needs to be addressed in employee behavior and performance and then measuring an attainable goal for the employee to meet those desired behaviors by the organization is important (Mello, 2015). 

Design and delivery would be the next step. Creating an effective way to administer training and development is important. The book gives a great example of an obstacle such as prior learning and habits creating a roadblock in the training process (Mello, 2015). Having well-designed and deliverable training will be helpful to hopefully overcome those issues. 

The next step would be the transfer, which is also important. Making sure that the trainees are able to take on these new skill sets and apply them to their daily work routine. 

When it comes to technology, computer-based training can be a good way to do training and development. It is self-paced and the curriculum can be individualized for each employee (Mello, 2015). 

I think computer-based training, is a great option for companies to have when it comes to training and development. I think the best way to implement these types of training is to have a motivator to get through these training. At my current job, for the shorter trainings, we have adequate time to get them done and we get a certificate when completed. For the more lengthy and position-focused training, the motivation is the chance to move up from a level one to a level two and then a level three. Of course, there is a time period of how fast you can move up but it motivates those who want to grow to get these trainings and development done. It would be good to make them interactive so it is not too boring. Simulation and scenarios can be helpful as well as some readings, click the picture to learn more and videos could be helpful as well.

Technology is something that is constantly changing. As well as training and development being something that is designed to improve employee perforrmance as well as orgnaizational improvement. Technology plays an important role in this because training can be done online through any electronic device. 

Technology is also used to keep records of output and input as well as employee evaluations. There was a time when everything was done manually and there were papertrails but since technology has improved everything is computer based and supposed to be better and more convenient. This is true in some cases but one has to look at they age group of the employees they have to determine where and if there will be diffiulty getting the employees to use the new and advanced technology that most organizations have.

However, with the technology that each organization has, employees can learn and acquire new skills and knowledge through the use of new applications and can take this training with them whereever they may go, if they chose to go to another organization. Alot of orgnaiztions are going to electronic based training and are going paperless to help conserve trees and the environment. But with everything good there is always something that is bad about it. We depend on technology so much that we forget technology has bugs aand can go down at anytime.. In organizations if the internet goes out then prodcution is cut short and time is lost until the internet is back up and it is the same way of the systems that are being used crahsed, get hacked or the system ends up getting wiped out. 

All and all, the use of techonolgy is a good thing but one must have a back up plan in case something goes wrong. As stated previously, times and technology is changing consistently and all employees must be up to date on all the changes and be able to function on a technology enhanced world
