SAN
Storage Area Network (SAN) is a storage network architecture that is segmented to handle data storage and transfer between computers and storage elements. The architecture comprises of various components such as servers, storage, and hosts, each contributing to its overall functionality (Romli, Prayudi & Sugiantoro, 2019). These components are designed to allow it to handle a large volume of data traffic between the servers and storage devices. The design feature also separates intensive backup traffic from normal traffic. For effective functionalities, SAN also comprises communications infrastructure, which provides the necessary connections, storage, and computer systems that provide security to the data transfers.
Many Users Do Not Yet Feel Comfortable Storing Data Within the Cloud. Discuss Some Steps You Can Take to Reduce Their Concerns
Many users are not comfortable storing data within the cloud due to some concerns such as security and privacy; thus, to reduce these concerns, I would first enlighten them on how cloud storage functions. Enlightening them on the core functionalities of cloud storage would make them more amenable to embracing the technology. I would also guide them on how the system provides security and protect their stored data (Tadesse, 2018). Lastly, I would guide them on how to encrypt their data safely and effectively before uploading on cloud storage; such knowledge would reduce chances of making errors that could compromise their privacy and security.
Pros and Cons of Cloud-Based Data Storage
The pros of cloud-based data include: providing safe data storage as there are security features in the system that protect data from access by unauthorized people (Marwan et al., 2019). The technology also provides off-site backup services that allow clients to access data remotely. Cons of cloud-based data storage include reliability on the third party who provide storage services to the clients. Subsequently, vulnerabilities in the third-party system’s security exposes the client’s data to the risk of security breach from malicious threat actors. Besides, access to the stored data depends on the strength of the clients’ internet connection and speed which may affect their operations (Liu & Yu, 2018). Lastly, there is minimal control of stored data as it is fully managed by the service provider.
