PART 2: RESPOND TO RESPONSES

#1: Some classification instruments used to determine the correctional sanctions or placements for a juvenile would be the community of the juvenile. As well as the family or home setting they are currently in. Sometimes being in the wrong neighborhood can be an influence in the juvenile's behavior. These work by intake and classification of a juvenile in a detention facility. While they are awaiting court hearings and sentencing they are held in the detention facility. While they are there they are being classified with these instruments. One way to measure positive change while in a secured confinement is by having the juvenile participate in programming or self enrichment that the facility offers. This is one way you can monitor positive change in a juvenile. Probation is effective one the juvenile has served either their time in a facility or is released by the court with conditions. That's when the probation officer monitors the juvenile in the community and if he/she violates the terms of probation they can face another charge. Incarceration would be the best option when it comes to serious violations such as murder or manslaughter, stuff that would be endanger to others that will hurt their lives.

#2: So for youthful offenders there are some options for them. They can be made to help the community by doing community service. They can be placed into house arrest, placed on probation, and even be placed into an alternative home. Community service is a sanction that can benefit the offender, the community, and may reestablish faith in the juvenile justice process. Community service offers a proactive sanction that can be used to rehabilitate or punish while holding the offender accountable to the victim and/or the community. Juvenile probation programs are ideally set up to help young people correct their behaviors without removing them from their communities. The advantages of house arrest include lower costs than detention in locked facilities, decreased rates of recidivism, and the ability to monitor the wearer's location at all times. You can see a positive change by how the juvenile acts and corrects his behavior.

PART 3: Scenario: You are a probation officer or juvenile corrections officer tasked with making recommendations to a judge for a juvenile’s entire course of treatment. You can advise on the sanctions they should receive; the components of their correctional treatment; the programs, training, or institutions that should assist them; any alternatives or special conditions to consider, and; terms for their aftercare and transition back into the community.

Write a 525-700-word narrative that outlines a correctional dispositional plan for a juvenile.
