Endemic-based Terrorism

The Republic of Somalia has experienced endemic-based terrorism. The country has been struggling to stabilize, but the Al Shabaab has continued to attack. The attacks from this terrorist group have made life difficult in Somalia. The country is even struggling to keep the government intact. The United States and neighboring countries like Kenya have been keen on helping this country. Somalia is considered a failed state, and without the multinational efforts, the Al Shabaab would have taken over like what the Taliban have done in Afghanistan.

The ethnicity affected by this terrorist group is Somali. The Somali people have suffered under the Al Shabaab and the inability of their government to serve its people diligently. The Somali people are pastoralists and entrepreneurs. However, the Al Shabaab has made the country uninhabitable. Some Somali people have been forced to seek refuge in Kenya and other neighboring countries. In some cases, some of the victims have sought asylum in Western nations. It is devastating to see a country that was economically performing reducing to a playground for terrorists (Mpiani, 2019). Families have been separated and some displaced.

In general, the terrorist activities happening in Somalia is the destruction of property and life. The terrorist launch attacks using explosives to kill dozens of people. Also, some critical installations in Mogadishu have been destroyed by the terrorists who want to control Somalia. Essentially, Mwangi (2012) noted that the ideologies underlying these terrorist activities are economic and political. Al Shabaab wants to take over the government and manage the economic activities of Somalia. It also wants to install its extreme ideologies like the Taliban in Afghanistan.
