During this final sequence, we are discussing literary theories, also known as literary lenses

English

During this final sequence, we are discussing literary theories, also known as literary lenses. For this assignment, in order to develop a better understanding of how to apply lenses, I would like you to choose one that has been introduced to you in class, and I would like you to analyze Watchmen through that lens. First, consider the features of the lens you've chosen. What are its origins, and what aspects of literature does it focus on? Then I would like you to consider how this lens can be applied to Watchmen, and what Watchmen has to teach us when viewed through this lens.
For example, if you choose the lens of feminism, then you will be considering the ways in which women, and women's struggles, are portrayed in the novel, and what the novel has to say about the female experience. If you choose New Historicism, then you will be considering the time period in which the novel is set, what the novel has to say about that time period, and how the author's experiences shaped his work.
