  1. Amazon reports their sales outside the US specifically for Japan, Germany and the UK, but doesn’t break out sales detail for the “rest of the world”. What are the commonalities in the business environments of these three countries that makes Amazon successful there?  What are the commonalities in consumer behavior variables across these markets?  Is it likely there is a market segment that Amazon targets across these markets; if so, how would you characterize it?  What is a difference between these markets that you find surprising?

Buy Box Experts mention some markets where Amazon is growing quickly.  In addition to these markets, what countries might provide the best opportunity for future growth based on Amazon’s core competencies, international expansion strategy, and experiential learning from existing market entries?

 

  1. For a market identified in #2, what type of market entry strategy would you advise?  What product mix would the consumer base support?
