Cardiac Rehab Associates

Creating and Modifying Reports

GETTING STARTED

  • Open the file NP_AC19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_1.accdb, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as NP_AC19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_2.accdb by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .accdb file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • Open the _GradingInfoTable table and ensure that your first and last name is displayed as the first record in the table. If the table does not contain your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. Cardiac Rehab Associates is a company that helps people rehabilitate their health and strength after an illness or accident. You work as a research analyst to maintain records and to analyze the success of various activities and programs. At Cardiac Rehab Associates you are developing an Access database application to help manage this information.

Create a report on the InsuranceCompanies table using the Report tool, save it with the name InsuranceCompanyList, and close it.
  2. Create a report using the Report Wizard using the ClientID, FirstName, and LastName fields from the Clients table and the ProgramName field from the HealthPrograms table. View the data by HealthPrograms, do not add any more grouping levels, sort the records in ascending order by LastName and then by FirstName, and use a Stepped layout and a Landscape orientation. Title the report ProgramRosters, preview the report as shown in Figure 1, and then close it.

  1. Open the ClientScores report in Layout view and resize the text box below the Date of Birth label to be as wide as the Date of Birth label so that the text box displays all dates clearly. Move the entire Date of Birth column—both the label as well as the text box below it that displays the dates—between the First Name and Strength Score columns. Add conditional formatting to the data in the Strength Score column so that if the value is less than 3, the field's font color is set to red and the font is bold. Preview the ClientScores report, a portion of which is shown in Figure 2, and then save and close the ClientScores report.

  1. Open the ClientListing report in Layout view and apply a Portrait orientation. Change the font color of the label in the Report Header to Automatic (black) and the font size to 18. Edit the text in the label in the Report Header, using Client Listing as the new value. Save the ClientListing report.
  2. Switch the ClientListing report to Design view. Add a label with the text Confidential to the right side of the Page Header section at about the 7" mark on the horizontal ruler, and widen it to approximately 1" as shown in Figure 3.

  1. In Design view of the ClientListing report, use the format painter to paint the formats from the Last Name label in the Page Header section to the other labels in the Page Header section.
  2. With the ClientListing report still open in Design view, change the theme fonts to Georgia. Resize the Client Listing label in the header section, widening it so that the right edge appears at the 2" mark on the horizontal ruler. Preview the ClientListing report, a portion of which is shown in Figure 4, and then save and close the ClientListing report.

Save and close any open objects in your database. Compact and repair your database, close it, and then exit Access. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
