Module 06 Project Template Project overview for Introduction to Networking This week will be the culmination of our activities thus far. In a Word Document you will include one (1) Visio site diagram, and three (3) detailed Visio office diagrams – Be sure to update your drawings with any necessary changes based on instructor feedback. In the Executive Summary, gather all commentary from all previous projects. Outline how you met the goals of the accountants for minimizing costs, sharing the Internet bandwidth, and still meeting their objectives for securing the clients data. Overview Submit a final overall Visio site diagram and three detailed Visio network diagrams of each office network, all updated with any necessary changes. Please refer to previous assignment feedback and discussion from instructor and cohort for guidance on this. Additional Objectives For the Visio maps, they should include all relevant network information as outlined in previous assignments. The map should be well organized. No connectors should cross. All device labeling and network information text boxes should be clear and legible. The executive summary should be detailed, with justifications for network configuration choices included. They should also be a compilation of the executive summaries from the entire course. (Consider that the audience of the Executive Summary may be business leadership who is not technically inclined.) Each accountant will have a wireless router for their office space which will be connected through a switch to a single, shared DSL/Cable modem. The accountants want to minimize their network costs, have the same level of connectivity in the three office areas, and want to insure a high level of security for their client’s information in each individual office. Module 05 Overview It is time to configure the DHCP scope and wireless settings on the wireless routers. Based on previous assignments and feedback from the instructor, finalize your configuration decisions and configure your router based on the Linksys EA8300 series simulation. Below are screenshots of the router configuration screens. Below each screenshot, include the configuration information for each office as setup in the simulation. Additional Objectives Below each screenshot, include the specific settings using the following example (you do not have to use this naming scheme): Host Name: AccountingOffice1 Domain Name: Accounting1 Etc. Module 04 Overview It is time to configure the DHCP scope on the wireless routers. Adding to your previous Visio diagrams, please update the configurations for each accountant network, including Network Address or Subnet ID, Subnet Mask, and default gateway. Then provide the DHCP scope range and SSID. Additional Objectives Below, after inserting the maps, discuss the need for static addresses. Be sure to include why static addresses are a good idea. Body The company wants the three routers to communicate using three different subnets. In advance of updating the network diagrams, please fill out the following subnet worksheet and router worksheet to support the network diagrams. Insert all network diagrams here. (Include a site diagram for feedback for the final project) In addition to your drawings, include a discussion here addressing the following: ? Will any of the devices on the networks require static addresses? Why or why not? Executive Summary
In this conclusion, discuss how your design decisions for this module met the goals of the accountants for minimizing costs, sharing the internet bandwidth, and securing customer data.
1. Minimizing Costs
By introducing a BYOD policy in the workplace, the firm can save money by not having to purchase more devices for employees while also increasing productivity. Employees who are able to utilize the devices they are familiar with will be more productive. More output equals more profit. The cost of installation is kept low by having only two devices in each workplace using an ethernet connection. Using high-quality products rather than low-cost ones will reduce costs over time. It is not necessary to repair or replace parts.
2. Sharing Bandwidth
Making use of the wireless router's administrative settings. Giving all devices the same amount of bandwidth ensures that they all run at the same speed. This allows the administrator to go into the device settings later and check which devices are consuming the most bandwidth, and change as needed. Employees will be more productive if the speeds are kept consistent across the board. Uploads and downloads will be quicker and more fluid.
3. Security Concerns
With each business comes the risk of unwanted devices and viruses infiltrating the network. Implementing a firewall between the various offices, as well as one from the main model to the switch, will aid in the prevention of threats. Employees will be required to utilize the company's security software as part of the BYOD policy. Security can also be improved by restricting access to particular websites and domains. Having just an IT technician who can add new devices to the network. It will be a big assistance if the network isn't broadcasted freely.
