Discussion: Practical application of the research process
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in nursing uses evidence from research, patient's preferences, and clinical experts. It aids nurses in the individualized care of different patients because the approach is used to solve various problems (Horntvedt et al., 2018). EBP helps nurses formulate the best course of action for the care of patients. In nursing, it is utilized following a few steps. The first step is to formulate a clinical question for the problem. Second, evidence is gathered for the question. Third, analysis is done for the obtained evidence, followed by evidence application (Storey et al., 2019). Finally, an assessment is done for the obtained results to identify if the plan is effective.
EBP ensures that quality healthcare is reached because it helps both nurses and patients. It helps nurses make informed decisions through the scientific research it provides (Storey et al., 2019). It helps nurses stay updated about new medication protocols. Nurses can utilize the technique to obtain documented interventions for patients' different conditions. It improves the quality of care and recovery for patients. Also, EBP provides benefits and potential risks of treatments that can be explained to patients to make informed decisions. Thus, EBP ensures patients' quality of care which improves the Healthcare quality of the entire facility.
