The message I got from the article was that men are prone to boast show off their masculinity and use it as a weapon against women.

My reaction is simply, "Steinem, you nailed it. This is exactly what I think would happen if men evolved to have periods."

Men would definitely brag about longer periods because it would make them appear tougher due to the pain of menstrual cramps. There would definitely be "Chuck Norris Tampons" or "Sylvester Stallone Pads." If men could menstruate, it would turn into a weapon we used against women who try to do things that are typically considered masculine like enlisting in the military or holding public office. Period blood would become synonymous with the strength of men who are able to fight on while bleeding.

Needless to say, I agree with Steinem's view of how men are prone to boast about their perceived masculinity because I have seen many instances on social media and in real life when a man tries to show off about how bad ass he thinks he is.

I know not every man in the world is like this but still there are some people who flaunt their masculinity in very annoying ways.

COLLAPSE

It is important to consider race and ethnicity when discussing gender inequality for many reasons. Gender inequality is the term used when "men and women are not equal and that gender affects an individual's lived experience." When discussing gender inequality, is is very important to consider race and ethnicity because many people not only believe a certain gender is capable of doing something that the opposite isn't, but that it can also have something to do with their background. Race and ethnicity in my opinion has nothing to do with what someone is able to do or not, neither does their gender, but many can disagree. High school and college graduation rates have convinced some people that gender does have something to do with gender as well. The overall 6-year graduation rate in a study once concluded that 63% of females graduate yet 57% of males graduate high school. This study concluded both private and public schools. Studies like these tend to convince people that one gender is more capable of doing something, such as graduating, rather than the other. Asian Americans have the highest overall college graduation rate, yet Asian women are more likely to make up that graduation rate. Conclusions like these are very important to state when talking about gender inequality because it can give you real life examples as to why some people believe that gender inequality is a real thing and that race or ethnicity are factor that can affect it.
