STEP 1 – Choose what to Analyze:

 Analyze the work of a community organization OR a public court case OR a public video, from a Restorative and Transformative Justice perspective. 

 

Options:

1 ) Community Organization = Analyze the organization based on the work they are doing. Make sure you identify if they are using a transformative or restorative approach. Please identify the organization by explaining, who they are, who they serve, where and when they do it and the history of the organization. Most importantly why? This can be any community organization anywhere. 

 

Example of Community organization: Elizabeth Fry Society / Streets to Homes / SNAP / Amnesty International /

 

Boundaries - extra point for indigenous or international organizations

 

 

2) Public Court Case = Analyze the outcome of the court case and the impact the crime created. What was the final result from the court. Why? Was it a restorative approach or a transformative? If neither, tell me what you feel could have been a desired result. What approach would you have used?  

 

Examples of Public Court Case: high profile DUI cases / murder / theft / Just provide one significant source. Please include every source you reference in your reflection. 

 

Boundaries - 1 - No crimes involving minors as victims, unless the person responsible is a minor. OK - Youth on Youth crime. NOT OK – Adult crime on Youth/Child

Boundaries - 2- No explicit descriptions of any crime. State what happened, focus on the impact after the crime on the victims and community and the signs of healing

Format Y - 500 word paper, with 3 sources (i.e. news, audio, video, photo, website ) Sources will be marked by - relevance, informative and insightful
