You have just been hired as a Human Resource Manager in a small, but rapidly growing organization with 160 employees

Business

You have just been hired as a Human Resource Manager in a small, but rapidly growing organization with 160 employees. During the interview and selection process, the CEO stated that the reason an HRM Manager was needed was because there was an increase in customer complaints concerning errors in shipments of orders. Errors included incorrect products and quantities, as well as increases in defective products. The errors seemed to be random; in other words, customers did not know if and when they would receive a correct and complete order or one with missing and/or incorrect or defective products. You have one non-exempt HR clerical-type employee in the department. Obviously, this is an important problem for a growing start-up organization.

Where would you start to determine what is wrong?

What would you do to quickly, but effectively, correct the problem?

Find at least two scholarly sources addressing this issue. When researching, it is good to find sources that provide varying perspectives on the same topic.

As a human resource manager, my job will be to manage the workforce and customer relationship of the business organization. Because the firm is small and all its profits are associated with the customer satisfaction level, it is important to deal with the issue seriously and take corrective actions as soon as possible. In order to find the mistakes and errors in the delivery process, it is important first to observe the employees and the activities conducted by them. Before pointing out mistakes, it is important to understand the behavior of employees and maintain a cordial relationship with them. After all these steps, I will start analyzing the mistakes in the production and delivery process.

After identifying mistakes, I will take corrective action plans in order to rectify the mistakes quickly. First, I will make sure that all the employees who are working in the production and delivery department have the required skills and knowledge about the work performed by the department. After this, if I get to know that employees are not skilled and do not possess the required skills and knowledge, then I will organize on-the-job training for the employees so that they can gain practical knowledge of the activities and reduce errors while performing delivery functions. Thirdly, if I find a certain set of procedures obsolete, I will develop new ways and will communicate the changes to the employees. This is how I will quickly and effectively correct the problem.
