An outcome of an experiment may be affected by many variables/conditions in an independent, synergistic/combinatory, or antagonistic manner. It is always best to measure one variable keeping all other variables/conditions constant. If we try to measure two variables at a time then change in one variable may further affect the outcome of the other. Hence it is often a standard practice to test one variable at a time by keeping all the conditions/ variable constant.
