Discussion
The environment set for the children is useful in determining the quality of life they will live. According to Shao and Wang, the environments created at home affect the children therein (384). In their research on how violent video gaming is connected to adolescent aggression, Shao ad Wang found that children from poor family environments were the most affected by the games (384). Conversely, the students who were from families with a good environment were less affected by violent video gaming. Therefore, it is beyond argument that the environment created by the parents can determine the well-being of the children. The failure of the role of parenthood will translate to a generation that has an inclined cognitive power and with possible poor performance.
Exposure to violent video gaming affects the concentration of a student leading to poor performance in the school. According to Khalil et al., both the students and the parents should be updated about the information regarding the effects of violent video gaming (331). More than 62.07% of the students engaged in violent video gaming will exercise and portray violence in real life. When such young people start engaging in violent action, their social life is at risk of being negative. In the learning institutions, there is a necessity of cooperation between the students and the teacher; however, this may not be possible if the children have no good social skills. According to Khalil et al., 63.21% of the male students who play violent video games are found to have poor performance in academic work (331). Therefore, if the parents fail to understand the effects and the risk they are exposing their children to when they avail of the violent video games, even the education system will be affected.
The effect of video gaming is not based on the health condition of a person but the type of exposure and the duration. The minds of the children are greatly affected by the environment they grow up in. Therefore, exposure to the issues that tune their mindset negatively can mold them into aggressive and prone to crimes society. According to Kühn et al., the buildup of the effects occurs in short-term phases (1222). However, with the increased exposure, the long-term effects can be portrayed through the behaviors of such people because the behaviors are highly dependent on the cognitive power of a person.
Finally, as a society, it is necessary to take of the children since they are the future members who will be assigned various obligations in the community. Therefore, it is necessary for the parents to ensure that the content and activities that the children are exposed are fit for them. Such consideration will not ensure the well-being of the society but will also be a boost to the education system through the enhancement of the social being of the students.
