The average cost of a purse depends upon the economy we are talking about.

A survey by Allianz Insurance from PR Newswire valued the average cost of a purse and its contents to be $520 which the women carry as every one in four women has a designer purse, 13% of which cost more than $120 on an average.

The average cash was sound out to be $32 and 14% of purses had some electronic device. At the same time, the purses also carried $75 worth of makeup and $65 worth of sunglasses on average.

If we are talking about the average price of a new handbag then the average price in the US comes out to be $313 which is the highest in the world followed by Japan where the average price is $268.80.

In developing economies like India, the average price is as low as $7.22.
