Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was both a science fiction writer and a satirist and in Harrison Bergeron represents a future that is both disturbing and frightening. What is the kind of society Vonnegut is presenting? And what are the inherent dangers in this society? Relate the use of technology in the way it is presented in the short story to the way technology is presented and celebrated in the Iron Man film series. Even while the Iron Man films are seemingly (overtly) critical of the use of technology in the military and in situations of war (specifically in connection with terrorists) they simultaneously celebrate individual innovation (Tony Stark is an inventor who can create Iron Man in a "primitive" lab inside a cave!) and specifically technology.
