Haki Madhubuti is still around, the owner of Third World Press and a professor at Chicago State University. His publishing press has Brooks and Baraka as artists. The reason he owns his own publishing press? "It made no sense to me to talk bad about white folks and then beg them to publish it."

When you read his Bio, pay particular attention to the sentence that says that anyone who was not for BAM was against it. Then as you read the "Introduction" to Think Black on page 860, you will see that he calls out three writers who did not subscribe to the ideology of BAM, including Ralph Ellison whose novel Invisible Man has been called one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. Madhubuti tells what the artists of a community should do: they should write the wrongs. The example is the Japanese writers who should have been writing about the Americans of Japanese descent being put into concentration camps in America. He ends with a poem that places Blacks into acceptable stereotypical roles; otherwise, America has no use for them. Read the poem "Move Un-noticed" and answer the following question.
