This Week's Topic Ferd Berfel and Fannie Farfel work at Mega Corp. Fannie's supervisor finds social media posts that show her and Ferd partying like rock stars in Cabo. With these images fresh in his mind, the supervisor requests that the IT Department conduct a search of both Fannie and Ferd's company owned technology equipment. After completing the research, Fannie's supervisor uses this information to suspend Fannie from work for one week without pay and submits a written warning into her personnel file. Is this action an invasion of Fannie's privacy? Is the action taken by the supervisor appropriate? As her supervisor, what actions, if any, might you take?

As understood from the paragraph/ situation, the supervisor seems unhappy or disappointed becasue Fred and Fannie partied at Cabo. This is not a valid reason for suspension. The employees can do whatever they want during their personal time, they are not required to follow company guidelines unless they are on the company property or represent the company. Since this action was taken against an Act done by these two guys in their personal space, the supervisor has crossed a line by invading their privacy and using those actions against them. This is a clear invasion of privacy and looks like the supervisor has taken some sort of a revenge.

The action by the supervisor is not appropriate.

As her supervisor, I would request her to make sure that she is all sober when she resumes office. I would not take any action agaisnt her as far as she is following the code of conduct at work and respecting the work place etiquette.
