Congratulations, we are at the end of the quarter! Looking back, give the first reaction you have to these questions:
What was the most surprising thing you learned about any part of the environmental law, policy, and economics?
The one thing that I found surprising is that there were environmental based laws in the beginning of the 1900's. Before this class, I was under the impression that most environmental laws were placed in the late 60's thru the 90's.
Did any of the information or discussion in class change your perspective on any aspect of environmental law and economics? Or change your personal environmental choices?
In a sense, this class did change the way I think about environmental law and economics. I had no idea how complex environmental law is and how involved all of the policy making can be. As far as my personal choices, I don't believe I had listened to any podcasts before this class at all. As the course progressed I began to listen to more podcasts both with and without environmental topics. Through those podcasts I began to reevaluate my choices as it comes to how I go about my daily life and what processes I might be able to implement on our farm. I've already changed all the bulbs in my house and decided to look for other ways to make my house more energy efficient to lower my carbon foot print, turns out I have a lot of work to do.
What questions do you STILL have regarding environmental law and economics?
I suppose the only questions I have regarding environmental laws come in my area of study, Agricultural Sciences. I want to know what is going to be done with water pollution laws in regards to nutrient runoff. I know this is very specific but I want to be proactive in getting our farm setup to be environmentally friendly. Fortunately, some of the new podcasts I am listening to are helping me on that front with supplying me with ideas and sometimes backed up by science.
