BUS K353
Part 1: Critiquing Visualizations (30 points)
Find and critique three (3) visualizations on the web. You may want to check out the following for some visualizations:
• Viz of the Day (Tableau Public): public.tableau.com/app/discover/viz-of-
the-day
Provide the following for each visualization. Each visualization is worth 10 points.
1) Web site
2) Name of the visualization
3) Discuss the visualization. What is it trying to convey?
4) In your opinion, would you consider this to be a good visualization or not?
Why or why not? In your analysis, consider use of color, text, and space in
the visualization. Does the visualization clearly and easily show the
information it is trying to convey?
Note, #3 and #4 above should be at least two well developed paragraphs in length
(at least two paragraphs for #3 and at least two paragraphs for #4). Please use
correct grammar and spelling in your responses.

Part 2: Creating Visualizations Using Tableau Public (40 points)
In Part 2, you will use Tableau Public to create two visualizations. Five videos
have been created that show how to create a line chart, bar graph, stacked bar
graph, map, and histogram in Tableau Public. Please watch the videos and decide
which two types of visualizations you would like to create. For example, you
may want to create the line chart and map that were created in the videos.
Follow the steps in the videos to create the visualizations and then publish them to
your Tableau Public account.
To create a Tableau Public account, go to https://public.tableau.com/s/
Select the button Sign Up for Tableau Public

Please note that a visualization that has been published using Tableau Public is
viewable by the public on the internet. You can remove your Tableau Public
visualizations and/or account after the Spring 2023 semester concludes.
If you would like to delete your Tableau Public account after the Spring 2023
semester concludes, then you can by selecting Settings under your Tableau Public
Profile. You will see an option to Delete Tableau Public Account.
The Line Chart, Bar Chart, and Stacked Bar visualizations use the Excel file
dataset1
The Map visualization uses the Excel file dataset2.
The Histogram visualization uses the Excel file dataset3
Each Tableau Public visualization is worth 20 points.
In your Project 2 submission document, enclose the URL for your Tableau Public
visualizations. For example, Marcy Jance’s Tableau Public visualizations can be
found at https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/marcy3687
