If you’re unsure how to proceed, two options are: 1. organize the paper by type of negotiating technique; for example, have a separate heading for each technique, then note the part of the video clip that exemplifies that technique; remember to include techniques that could have been used, as well as how you used one or more in one of your negotiations; or 2. breakdown the clip section by section (in some cases it might even be worthwhile to talk about each statement made), noting which technique applies to each section; as above, incorporate techniques that could have been used, as well as how you used one or more in one of your negotiations. As noted in the instructions, the key to doing well on the paper is to go beyond simply naming a negotiation technique; also explain it and apply it. Reference the course textbooks – remember to use APA citations. The whiteboard notes can help to point you to a particular reading, but reference the reading directly, not the notes. NEGOTIATION BLAW 453 Spring 2021 Paper 3 1. There is no need for any outside research. Do not include any research on negotiation skills or techniques other than from class materials and the readings provided. The goal of this paper is for you to demonstrate a depth and breadth of knowledge of the negotiation techniques that you have learned and applied over the course of the semester. 2. At the end of the paper, write the following statement: “I verify that this paper is entirely my own work, with the exception of sources that have been properly cited. I have paid particular attention to the need to note direct quotations as such.” Then “sign” the sentence (your typed name is fine). You’ll lose three points if your paper does not end with this honesty verification. You may not get tutoring, assistance, advice or any other outside support other than that available through CSUN’s Learning Resource Center. 3. Helpful guides and resources are located at http://library.csun.edu/Guides/ResearchStrategies/CitationStyleGuides and http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ 4.
