Participate in the Gender Perception experiment at the American Psychological Association's Online Psychology Lab website.

• Go to http://opl.apa.org (Links to an external site.).
• Create an account or login as a student.
• Click the Experiments tab in the navigation menu.
• Select the Gender Perception experiment (located beneath the Social Psychology heading).
• Enter the Class ID: 118607
• There will be 48 trials, and the experiment should take you about 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
• After completing the experiment, jot down the details of the experiment so that you can report them in your Mini Report. You will want to report things like descriptions of the images used (stimuli), different categories of stimuli and how they were created, what happened on each trial of the experiment step-by-step, the number of trials, and any instructions you were given as a participant.
• After you have participated, you may wish to return to the Gender Perception experiment page and click on the "Description" tab to learn more about the background of the study.

Step 2. Mini Report Stats quiz

After the experiment, you will need to analyze the data set found on the Mini Report Data page. Take the Mini Report Stats quiz (ungraded), which will walk you through the data analysis you will need to complete for the Mini Report. You can retake the Mini Report Stats quiz as many times as you need to in order to make sure you have completed your calculations correctly. You will be reporting the results of your calculations in your report.

Step 3. Write Mini Report

Now it is time to write your report. Your report should be approximately 2 to 3 pages and include Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, and References sections. You will need to include at least one figure or table in the Results section. Guidance for what goes into the Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion sections can be found in these two resources.
