    1. A friendly and warm but professional introduction stating who you are and what you are there for can be very helpful and comforting to the patient especially if they are a little nervous. Active listening techniques are so important when gathering information from the patient, so making sure as a nurse I am asking clarifying questions and maintaining eye contact. Also being comforting to the patient is very important to make the patient feel comfortable and not so alone.

    1. As she is very young I would try to make her comfortable by making sure she has everything she needs and try to use humor to make her feel more at home and not so alone.

I think jasmine my encounter barriers with introduction since so many people are in and out of the room when getting admitted to the emergency department it will be hard for her to recognize who has been in before and who everyone is. So as a her nurse I will make sure I am present and active in her care while in the emergency department so she is more comfortable.

    1. I will not undermine her and deny her experience instead I will say that I'm glad I could be a good nurse to her and I hope not to see her back in the ER so soon. 

  6. I feel as though there are many good ways to establish a therapeutic relationship with their patients but is it more difficult to establish these realtionships when they have family members int he room? How do we combat this?
