• Use the library journal search or Google Scholar to find a JOURNAL article (from an actual, reputable, peer reviewed and published journal) that discusses CULTURE AND PERSONALITY or CULTURE AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT. THIS ARTICLE MUST BE FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS (so set your search parameters from 2010 OR 2011 forward) and it must be from a legitimate, peer reviewed journal of personality. It can NOT be a book chapter or from a book or a magazine article, it MUST be some form of journal article or research or literature review that relates to personality and culture. It can NOT be offensive or racist. It CAN be from an international journal - just make sure it’s a legitimate one.
• READ THE ARTICLE – THE WHOLE ARTICLE, NOT JUST THE ABSTRACT (log on to the library VPN for access)
• NOW WRITE YOUR POST
  1. WRITE OUT THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE AND THE JOURNAL IT CAME FROM USING APA CITATION FORMAT. (Here’s a Link to APA style reference (Links to an external site.)) IF AT ALL POSSIBLE MAKE THIS A LIVE LINK TO THE ARTICLE ITSELF (embed a link into the title using Canvas tools) – this should appear before your summary (below)
  2. WRITE A SUMMARY -WITHOUT COPYING ANYTHING AT ALL DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTICLE (even if you are using quotes – do NOT copy or “reword” anything) – in your own words summarize what the article says about culture and personality – what did the research find or what was the conclusion of the authors – write this in at least ONE OR TWO THOUGHTFUL AND INTELLIGENT PARAGRAPHS (around 200-400 words) and use 100% your own words – do not paraphrase the article, do not think you can just read the abstract and rewrite that – READ the article and summarize it for your peers IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Ideally you will pick an article that in interesting. If the article involves research then please discuss what the research was and what the conclusions were. As you are writing this, ask your TA’s or the writing center for help to ensure that it is not copied or plagiarized in any way and that it is thorough enough to cover what you need to cover without being so long that no one will read it. Remember, your goal here is to teach your peers what this article had to say.
  3. WRITE ONE LAST PARAGRAPH - Add in your own thoughts as a final paragraph (at least several sentences ). This is a separate paragraph– do you agree with the authors’ findings? Do you think it contributes meaningfully to the field of personality theories? Do you think it can be used to develop theories or serve some other purpose such as helping educators or…..
