For this assignment, you will research the different ways that managers and leaders use communication to guide their organizations

Writing

For this assignment, you will research the different ways that managers and leaders use communication to guide their organizations.

Feel free to use the same organization you researched for the Unit VI Case Study. You are not limited to this organization, but it may be easier to complete the assignment since you have already researched the organization in Unit VI. You can use the same sources for both assignments, if applicable.

Find an instance where the organizational leader communicates directly with his or her employees, investors, or customers. Analyze the message, the channel, and the potential for feedback. Do you believe that it is effective? Do you believe that it is the same type of message that a manager would send? Why, or why not?

Remember to focus on the communication styles of both leaders and managers. Strive for an equal balance between the two types of communication styles in your assignment.

Use the standard five-paragraph format (introduction/body/conclusion). Include at least two academic sources. APA format should be used. The assignment should be a minimum of two pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. Content, organization, and grammar/mechanics will be evaluated.

Diana Garcia Professor Marshall BBA 2026 Organizational Communication Unit VI Case Study May 4, 2021 2 Dell Communication Strategy A communication strategy is designed to guarantee effective communication between management and the entire organization to accomplish critical organizational objectives. Communication is the primary indicator of how the company could perhaps be and optimize generating profit for sustainability. For every business, communication strategies need to be outlined to ensure that the organization works as expected. Moreover, the organization's success tends to rely on creative and robust communication strategies within the organization. Therefore, this case study provides a brief analysis of the innovative communication strategies deployed by Dell Computer Company for sustainability. Also, this essay will embrace a critical overview of Dell Inc's communication strategies that will allow other organizations such as Hewlett Packard to integrate a similar communication strategy for effective performance. Summary of Dell's Communication Strategy The Dell Computer Company acquired a communication strategy that is well known as innovative compared to other computer manufacturers. Several case studies were carried out on the technology giant organizations and Dell Computer Company. A creative communication strategy plays an integral role in improving the effectiveness of companies, suggests Edirisinghe (2015). Dell computer company's unique communication paradigm is compared to its organizational success in the case study. Knowledge flow within the company's traditional model of collaboration involves more than one user. In conjunction with Dell Inc., the manufacturer, retailers, dealers, and resellers are involved. A significant part of Dell's strategy is "deleting" specific data flow components it deems not being of value to its value chain (Edirisinghe 2015). Sharing of information between various stakeholders is the basis of the company's communication strategy. 3 Since the communication strategy at Dell allows customers to place orders over the internet, the company can immediately receive order information including any preferences for customizations to their computers and start assembly since the strategy allows direct communication between Dell and its suppliers, computer components get shipped immediately, and the company can begin assembly work immediately. Aside from that, the company also sends finished products directly to its customers, which as well promotes good customer relations (Edirisinghe 2015). Among other traditional models, this has resulted in long periods between product orders and delivery times, which results in poor communication. Analysis of Dell’s Communication Strategy With Dell's communication strategy, there is a direct line of communication between their manufacturer, their suppliers, and their customers. Both the manufacturer's and customer relationships have been positively impacted by the adopted strategy. As a result of the Dell manufacturing technique, the turnaround time on orders has been reduced from one week to half an hour on average (Edirisinghe 2015). Having real-time data, rather than stock, across the supply chain allows for these statistics to be generated. By enabling customers to place orders directly via the Internet in convenient ways, the communication strategy can impact the customer experience and satisfaction, enhancing guest experience by allowing them to recommend their preferred features. Alternatively, customers can ship to them directly from Dell; they can use UPS or FedEx to do this (Edirisinghe 2015). Dell maintains a good customer relationship with the help of this approach. Although the Dell company’s direct communication strategy is quite effective, it also poses significant potential for problems given its dependency on just-in-time manufacturing procedures. In order to be more approachable to both consumers and 4 suppliers, the company is adopting a direct communication model. Due to their low physical stock, Dell might be unable to continue operations if there is an interruption in the supply chain (Edirisinghe 2015). Another potential risk factor is their high reliance on information and communication technologies (ICTs). As a consequence, any problems with the global ICT infrastructure predispose Dell to multiple challenges. ICT and other complications can be addressed by management, however. A support organization that adopts an integrated approach to suppliers could eliminate potential risks attached to suppliers (Edirisinghe 2015). Therefore, any risks that could potentially disrupt the core of Dell's operations and communication strategy will be minimized. Integration Techniques For several years before joining Apple Inc., I was employed by Hewlett Packard Company. My former station adopted the traditional communication strategy; thus, to adopt a revolutionary communication approach like the one adopted by Dell Company, as stated in the case study analysis above, proper integration strategies are required. Any organization's operations are centered on communication based on information flow. A process characterized by disruptions is characterized by the lack of information flow (Vangelisti, 2016). Management at HP should embrace the direct model communication approach as the best integration technique that would ensure its incorporation. A detailed analysis of the success of direct communication at Dell reveals that the strategy was launched by the founder of the company, Edirisinghe (2015), explaining that it is one-way junior managers can rise to the occasion in the face of adversity. The technique depends on managers who are willing to integrate it into HP's culture. Through a culture of dedicated, hardworking individuals, Dell Company has cultivated the approach at the grassroots level. HP will need to eliminate parts of the supply chain that do not add value to the information system and 5 replace them with parts that do. Furthermore, HP will be required to establish a direct communication system with both its consumers and suppliers as a result of the just-in-time assembly procedure. We need to digitalize the method, so we will be able to access information about orders and production processes in real-time. Conclusion An analysis of Dell's direct communication strategy shows that it performs much better than the old-fashioned communication models generally used by PC manufacturers. The advantages of the direct communication approach demonstrate why it is an effective strategy. Furthermore, HP can greatly benefit from this approach by reducing the impacts of longer production cycles on the company and customer dissatisfaction.
