Your final 3-5 page write-up should be a description of your program design. In the guidelines I sent out, I listed various questions you should answer when completing your project. Please do not simply number and list your answers to these questions. Instead, your paper should be a description of your design, which includes the answers to all of my guiding questions. Your paper should be written in paragraph form, and you must cite when appropriate

SUNY Purchase PSY2650: Child Development Prof. DeBellis Spring 2021 Program Design Project Guidelines Due Date: Thursday, 5/13 by 11:55 PM Points: 240 Project Description: During the course of the semester, we have learned about physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development within the following periods: the prenatal stage, infancy, early childhood, and middle/late childhood. The final project in this course will require you to choose one of these developmental periods and design a developmentally appropriate program meant to enhance participants’ physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Examples of different types of programs you may choose include but are not limited to: elementary schools, arts-based programs, daycare centers, preschools, prevention programs, intervention programs, after-school programs, mentoring programs, community service programs, prenatal health classes, academic tutoring programs, anti-bullying programs, sports and/or fitness programs, etc. You can be as creative as you would like with your program design and how it will meet the needs of participants, but it must be both research- and theory-based. In other words, you must apply theories and research learned about in this course that will help make the case for why your program will work to optimize prenatal, infant or child development. Your final write-up of your program will be a minimum of 3-5 pages typed in Microsoft Word. Please use 12-pt font and 1” margins on all sides. Please write in paragraph form with strong topic sentences. Please include a references page, typed using APA Format. Please include a cover page, including your name, course information, and the name of your infant/child development program. You may also choose to design a program logo to be included on your cover page (a 10-pt bonus will be applied to students who design an original program logo). The program logo is not a project requirement. Please follow the steps outlined below to complete this project: Step 1: Choose a developmental period: prenatal, infancy, early childhood, or middle/late childhood. Step 2: Choose a type of program. Step 3: Design your program using theory and research learned about in the course. Describe your program in detail (the more details, the better). Be sure to answer the following questions: 1) Who are the participants in your program? 2) What are their physical, cognitive, and social-emotional needs, and how will your program help to enhance their development in these specific areas? 3) Choose at least one theory that we learned about this semester and discuss how the design of your program is based on this particular theory. (You may choose more than one theory.) 4) Describe at least five different activities participants will engage in at your program to enhance their physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Please include a sample daily schedule for the participants of your program. You must use research from the textbook and/or lecture to talk about why the activities are developmentally appropriate for the participants of your program. Please cite using APA Format.
