Poverty contributes to inequality in such a large way and creates a gap between people. Socioeconomic status causes great disparity between people and how they are treated and viewed in society. Poverty causes huge gaps in wages and intellect and affects people in many ways. Some of the ways poverty can affect a person is not only economically but also mentally. Poverty is one of the many factors people have that can prevent them from getting the mental help they need. People who experience poverty can be at risk of many mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and many other trauma related illnesses. Mental health can be very frightening, especially without help. Many times people who do get treated for their mental illness or health issues, can not afford the medication or the help from doctors due to the high price of medicine. Which causes them to not come back to get more help, or even get the medication they need which causes them to lose the help they got. Poverty affects our economy in such a great way, because it causes citizens to experience less than satisfactory health care and rights. Poverty limits access to good health care and hurts and hinders the economy because people in poverty are serving a system that does not want them to succeed or even survive.
