Your friends thought your analysis was very helpful and would like to move on with the project

Project Management

Your friends thought your analysis was very helpful and would like to move on with the project. Building on your recommendations from your previous analysis, you and your friends purchased a property (split equally between the five of you) and will start renting it out in three months. They’ve come to you again to ask for help. They want to create a database (outside of any online reservation system) that will track guest information in the hopes of increasing revenue over time. You have a meeting to listen to your friends’ requests for the database and here are your notes:

Jamal wants to collect basic personal information such as first name, last name, phone, email, birthdate, and address.

Jenny thinks we need to add personal touches and asks for any food allergies, pillow preferences, and favorite morning beverages (tea, coffee, juice, or smoothie).

Tony takes a practical approach and wants to know the date of stay, number of nights, price per night, total cost of stay (including fees and taxes), number of guests, and credit card information for a damage deposit.

Jerome sees potential in repeat rentals and recommendations and wants to survey guests after their stay for a 5-point rating, whether they would return (yes/no), whether they would recommend to a friend (yes/no), and any comments – good or bad.

You listen to their ideas and add that you would also like to track any issues with each guest (damage, loud, or policy violations) and internal comments about the guests.

You decide to create an Excel spreadsheet on Microsoft 365/OneDrive and you grant access to your four friends. Normally, this solution would require a database, for this assignment, we will be using Excel. You do not need to focus on database design for this assignment. Jamel will be entering all information about the renter prior to the stay (personal information, preferences, and stay information). Tony has agreed to create a separate survey and will be entering information after the stay (survey information and guest issues). Jenny and Jerome will back up Jamal and Tony respectively if they aren’t able to do the data entry. You will be responsible for running any reports and analysis, but won’t be doing data entry.

They ask you if you have any concerns about the plan, so you perform an analysis and present it to them in a PowerPoint presentation.  Use the attached PowerPoint Template to answer the questions poised on each slide. You do not need to answer every question but be thorough with each topic. Feel free to modify the formatting of the slides to best reflect the context of the project. Be sure to include speaker notes on each slide.

If you are unable to answer questions directly from the scenario, use your own experience, common sense, and creativity to fill in any blanks or gaps.
