THE BRIEF/INSTRUCTIONS

The title of the essay is:

Critically Discuss the English Legal System, and the importance of the Doctrine of Judicial Precedent.

You will be assessed on your standard of English, spelling and grammar. Harvard will once more be assessed as will your ability to research a question and display your ability to understand the English legal system and explain Judicial Precedent, using legal cases.

The word limit is 2,000 words (+/-10%). 

Learning Outcomes

This assessment will test your ability to meet the learning outcomes as described in your module handbook, specifically:

1.            Use the library and internet to find and use primary and secondary sources of law, cases and literature relevant to the subject area

2.            Cite decided cases and understand precedent

3.            Make a structured approach to writing essays, including referencing, reviewing cases and literature, and draw conclusions from them

All citations and references must be in the format laid down in Harvard (Cite them Right) version. If you do not do this, you will unnecessarily lose marks.
