Your essay's argument must proceed from a narrowly-defined thesis statement that gets the two texts "talking" to one another via three points of comparison that elaborate on a meaningful connection between the two pieces of literature (i.e., a common concern, theme, or question). All of your observations, claims, and conclusions must be supported by thoughtful and direct analysis of sufficient and appropriate textual evidence from the two literary texts1.
