BSA/425: Unbiased Recommendations

When undertaking research and seeking to identify and determine the trends in the technology market and vendors that we can use to get our technological needs, the sources of information were critical. First, I stayed away from sources and publications by a company or vendor in the field, given that they would try and market their product as better when compared to another offering. Therefore, in identifying the most suitable sources, I looked at publications done by experts and organizations in the field that do not have an affiliation to the players.  These publications by experts and third-party organizations provided a balanced view of the industry and offered information on each product or vendor without bias. Further, the experts provided a broader perspective on the subject using their knowledge of the field to assess and provide insight. These articles were further reviewed and selected based on the quality of content they provided and the ability of the author to support their view with evidence. For example, writers such as Maguire (2021) offer insight into the subject and further back their assertions with data from the field. While it's evident that every individual sustains a form of bias, I was satisfied with my sources and ability to identify them since I focused on works from authors who sought to rise above their prejudice by supporting their claim with clear evidence from the field.
