Movie and Developmental Counseling Reflection Paper (20 points)

Students will be required to choose from one of five movies related to human development: (a) Forrest Gump, (b) My Girl, (c) Moonlight, (d) Thirteen or (e) Boyhood. *Please note these movies may contain graphic content or profanity. Any student uncomfortable with this should contact the instructor immediately to discuss a different case study. Students are responsible for gaining access to one of these movies but may contact the instructor to discuss potential options. Students will watch their chosen movie through the lens of a developmental counselor and complete a 2-3 page reflection paper applying DCT to the main character. Although this list is not exhaustive, the following questions could be used help guide your discussion: 1) What is Developmental counseling and therapy (DCT)?, 2) How can Developmental Therapy be applied to the main character?, 3) Why is human development important in Counseling?, 4) Which techniques could you see yourself applying to the main character if you were their future clinician?, or 5) What were some key take-aways after participating in this developmental movie conceptualization? Be sure this reflection paper follows APA 7th edition guidelines, although you are encouraged to provide personal reflections and opinions. See rubric in Appendix for additional details.
