Since this is our last discussion forum, and I’m sure that you are busy studying for all of your courses, there will not be any research necessary for this final post. Instead I want to get some meaningful feedback from you in the context of what you learned in this course.

In no less than 200 words, explain:

  1. How have your ideas, thoughts, impressions, and concerns about oceanography and the world ocean changed as a result of this course, and what chapters/assignments/materials stimulated those changes? Be specific.
  2. What did you find most interesting?
  3. What advice would you give to a student interested in taking this course in a future semester?
  4. What additional learning tools or activities might the instructor(s) add that would be helpful to your learning and success in this course?

You do not have to reply to other students' posts. This information is meant for my personal use to give me an idea of how you have enjoyed the class and what are the strengths/weaknesses of it.

Honestly, initially the only reason I had signed up for this class was because it was the last class I needed it to transfer and the fact that it was online really helped because I was going to India for a month to visit family. Now that the class is coming to an end, I realized I have learned a lot more in than class than I would have thought I would. I feel like I have a bigger understanding about how the ocean works and how everything on Earth is connected. It really brought to life that the whole planet is sort of a living thing and everything has a specific role to play. I really enjoyed doing all the discussion forums because it allowed us to relate what we are learning to real life and to really think about what is going on around us and the consequences for certain actions. What I found that was the most interesting was learning about the oceans chemistry and how its pretty much a chemical soup which maintains its equilibrium. My advice for students next semester is to keep up with the guiding questions because they force you to not only read but to watch all the videos as well which reinforces all the material. I would also recommend to spend time on the discussion forums because they do help reinforce the material from the textbook and really get you to think outside the box. I think the course is set up really well and does not need anymore learning tools or activities because its all already there.
