Wellness Presentation Activity

As you completed your Library Activity, you found two articles related to a wellness topic that interests you.  Find another resource about this topic. You used the databases to find your first two articles. Use a non-academic search engine such as Google to find this third article. As you complete your research, answer these questions:

1. What is the wellness issue you have chosen?  Describe the issue and explain why this is an important topic for students.
2. What are some of the causes of this issue?  What factors can lead to problems?
3. What are some of the methods suggested to handle this issue?  Is there one you would recommend?
4. What are some of the resources for dealing with this issue?  Are there any resources available on campus or in our community?

 

Give a 5 minute oral presentation with a strong visual (PowerPoint or Prezi) that shares the information you have collected with your classmates. Use the Wellness Presentation Sign Up discussion thread to request a time to present. Everyone must present their information in class to receive full credit for this assignment. If you cannot attend class on the day of your scheduled presentation, you must let me know at least 24 hours in advance to be eligible to reschedule your presentation.  Otherwise, I will not accept this assignment late for credit.

Submit this assignment by attaching your completed PowerPoint or Prezi presentation. 

 

The presentation slides should include the following components (and please look at the grading rubric for more information):

• Title Slide  - Topic, Date, and Your Name

• Body slides (4-6) – Include the answers to the questions listed in the prompt.  Each slide should answer one question and include information and examples from your research articles/materials. Provide points written in your own words.

PROMPT QUESTIONS: 

• • What is the wellness issue you have chosen?  Describe the issue and explain why this is an important topic for students.
  • What are some of the causes of this issue?  What factors can lead to problems?
  • What are some of the methods suggested to handle this issue?  Is there one you would recommend?
  • What are some of the resources for dealing with this issue?  Are there any resources available on campus or in our community?

• Concluding Slide(s) (1 - 2) – How is the information in your presentation relevant to college students? What should students do with this new information? What risks should they be aware of? How and when should they use available resources?

• Citation Slide – Create full MLA citations for all 3 of your resources (2 resources from the HCC library databases - these are from your library assignment - and 1 additional resource)

 

Your presentation should include information that is RELEVANT and NEW to your audience. Use layout and visuals to keep your listener's attention. Practice using notes to present - do not read off the slides.
