Goal: Humans have always had an innate desire to explore past the boundaries of Earth to space. To that end, there are many technological, societal, and safety-related challenges that are associated with travel to, and habitation. Your goal is to design and construct a space settlement orbiting the planet of your choice (Mars, Jupiter etc.) considering all the factors. 
Audience: You have to present your proposal to the administrator of NASA and other scientists. 
Role: You are a space colony designer working at NASA. Situation: NASA has predicted that there is going to be a major collision of an asteroid with the Earth. Before then humanity must move off the planet. So your team has been chosen to design and develop a model of space settlement orbiting any planet so that humans could settle there. Product: You will create a 3D model of space settlement describing all the features of your designed colony including transportation, sustainability etc. Standards: This summative task will be assessed using Criterions A, B, C and D (all strands of each criterion). Rubrics will be provided. 
Task Specific Information:  1. You will be creating a three dimensional (3D) space settlement. 2. You need to consider the following factors. a) Location of your space settlement. b) Allocation of area of homes, schools, hospitals, agriculture. c) Food, water management, clothing (space suits), types of homes, roads etc. d) Recreational activities and other ideas. e) Clear labels on all structures. 0 Colour to highlight important features. g) All structures should be made of readily accessible materials. h) The model should be exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout, and neatness.
