  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_PPT19_5a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_5a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_5a_Video.jpg
  • With the file SC_PPT19_5a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. You work in the Public Relations Department for KMS Management Consultants and have created a presentation describing the company's social media strategies that you will deliver to the heads of each department.
    Begin by replying to the comment on Slide 1 with the text Done! and then close the Comments pane.
  2. Resize the slides in the presentation to Widescreen.
  3. Find the text "engagements" and replace it with interactions.
  4. Switch to Slide Sorter View, and work with sections in the presentation as follows:
    1. Add a section between Slides 1 and 2 of the presentation and rename the new section Steps 4 to 6.
    2. Change the name of the section called "Untitled Section" to Steps 1 to 3.
    3. Change the order of the sections as follows:
      § Default Section
      § Overview
      § Steps 1 to 3
      § Steps 4 to 6
      § End

      Return to Normal View.
  5. Display the Comments pane, and then modify comments in the presentation as follows:
    1. On Slide 2 ("Why Social Media"), insert a comment with the text I love this picture!
    2. Edit the comment on Slide 5 ("Step 3: Select Two Channels") by replacing "Facebook" with LinkedIn
    3. Delete the comment on Slide 7 ("Step 5: Build Engaging Content").
    4. Close the Comments pane.
  6. On Slide 2 ("Why Social Media"), enhance the picture as follows:
    1. Apply a White, Text 1 picture border with a 6 point border weight.
    2. Apply the Pastels Smooth artistic effect.
    3. Add the alt text in the Description box: Seven young people at a table looking at digital devices.
  7. With Slide 2 ("Why Social Media") still displaying, modify the bullet symbol as follows:
    1. Change the bullet to the checkmark symbol for all three bullets.
    2. Change the size of the bullet to 125% of text.
    3. Change the color of the bullet symbol to Aqua, Accent 4, Darker 50%.
  8. With Slide 2 ("Why Social Media") still displaying, change the line spacing of the bullet points to 1.5.
  9. On Slide 3 ("Step 1: Determine Our Goals"), change the list numbering style to 1 (Row 1, Column 2).
  10. On Slide 4 ("Step 2: Identify Our Audience"), format the bulleted text in two columns and modify as follows:
    1. Change the spacing between the two columns to 0.5".
    2. Move "Income" so that it appears at the top of Column 2.
  11. On Slide 5 ("Step 3: Select Two Channels"), use Format Painter to match the formatting of "LinkedIn" to the "Twitter" text.
  12. With Slide 5 ("Step 3: Select Two Channels") still displaying, animate the two text boxes as follows:
    1. Animate the LinkedIn text box using the Bounce Left preset motion path.
    2. Add the Drum Roll sound to the animation to the LinkedIn text box.
    3. Use the Animation Painter to apply the same animation options to the Twitter text box.
    4. Change the order of the animations so that the Twitter text box is animated before the LinkedIn text box.
  13. On Slide 6 ("Step 4: Identify Measurement Criteria"), modify the animation applied to the tape measure as follows:
    1. Change the direction of the Fly In animation so that the picture enters the slide from the Bottom-Left.
    2. Remove the Spin animation.
    3. Add the Teeter Emphasis animation. [Mac Hint – Emphasis Effects, Moderate, Teeter.]
  14. On Slide 7 ("Step 5: Build Engaging Content"), change the bullet for "Use video" to a picture using Support_PPT19_5a_Video.jpg.
  15. On Slide 8 ("Step 6: Engage with Our Audience"), modify the text boxes as follows:
    1. Change the left margin of the text in the blue rectangle (contains the text "Build Relationships") to 0.5".
    2. Use the format painter with objects to apply the formatting of the blue text box to the orange text box.
    3. Draw a connector using the Connector: Elbow Double-Arrow connector style between the two text boxes.
    4. Change the Shape Outline color of the connector to Aqua, Accent 4, Darker 50%.
    5. Change the weight of the connector to 6 point.
  16. On the final slide in the presentation, enhance the picture as follows:
    1. Recolor the picture using Aqua, Accent color 4 Light.
    2. Apply the Slant Bevel picture effect. [Mac Hint – Cool Slant Bevel.]
       
  17. With the final slide still displaying, enhance the text "Engage!" with the Glow: 8 point; Aqua, Accent color 4 text effect.
  18. With the final slide still displaying, modify the animation of the "Engage" text box as follows:
    1. Dim the text after animation by changing the After animation setting to brown (3rd choice in the color palette).
    2. Delay the animation for the "Engage" text box so that it starts 1 second after the animation of the picture.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.

The nine slides of the completed PowerPoint presentation are shown in Slide Sorter View in five sections. The first slide appears at the top (Default section). Slide 2 appears below (Overview section). Slides 3 to 5 appear next (Steps 1 to 3 section). Slides 6 to 8 appear next (Steps 4 to 6 section). The last slide in the presentation (End section) appears on its own at the bottom of Slide Sorter View. Changes were made to every slide in the presentation.
