Illustrated PowerPoint 2016 | Module 4: SAM Project 1a

DiLango Teaching English Abroad

FINISHING A PRESENTATION

GETTING STARTED

  • Open the file IL_PPT16_4a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as IL_PPT16_4a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following support files from the SAM website:
    • Support_IL_PPT16_4a_Logo.png
    • Support_IL_PPT16_4a_Japan.jpg
  • With the file IL_PPT16_4a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

  1. You work for DiLango, an organization that matches native English speakers with jobs at public and private schools in Japan. To put the finishing touches on a presentation for people interested in teaching English in Japan, make the following changes to the slide masters:
    1. In Slide Master view, on the Title and Content Layout master, insert the file Support_IL_PPT16_4a_Logo.png, available for download from the SAM website, to display the DiLango logo on all slides that use the Title and Content Layout.
    2. Resize the picture to a height of 1.24" and a width of 1".
    3. Use Smart Guides to move the picture to the lower-right corner of the slide master as shown in Figure 1 on the next page, then close Master view.

  1. On Slide 2 (“Teaching in Japan”), apply the Arcs Motion Path animation to the slide title.
  2. With Slide 2 still displaying, animate the bulleted list as follows:
    1. Apply the Fly In Entrance animation.
    2. Apply the As One Object effect option.
  3. On Slide 3 (“Current Teaching Jobs”), modify the animations as follows:
    1. Move the animation on the picture under the “Business English in Tokyo” text earlier so that it plays first.
    2. Change the Duration of the animation on the picture under the “Secondary School” text to 1.00 seconds.
  4. On Slide 4 (“Japan at a Glance”), change the slide background as follows:
    1. In the Format Background pane, click the Picture or texture fill button, then click the File button under the “Insert picture from” section.
    2. Navigate to the file Support_IL_PPT16_4a_Japan.jpg, available for download from the SAM website, then click Insert.
    3. Close the Format Background pane.

  1. On Slide 5 (“Tips for Living in Japan”), review the slide to evaluate whether it is professional, clear, and consistent with the rest of the presentation. Revise the slide as follows:
    1. Change the font color of the title to White, Background 1 (1st column, 1st row of the Theme Colors palette) so that it matches the other slide titles in the presentation.
    2. Change the font used in the left content placeholder so that all the text uses the same font shown in the right content placeholder.
    3. Change the shape fill of the right content placeholder to No Fill so that it matches the left content placeholder.
  2. Add transitions to the presentation as follows:
    1. Select the Push transition from the Subtle section.
    2. Use the From Right effect option.
    3. Change the duration of the transition to 1.50 seconds.
    4. Do not allow slides to advance on a mouse click.
    5. Advance each slide after 00:06.00 seconds.
    6. Apply the transition settings to all slides.
  3. In the Document Properties, enter DiLango as the Author property.
  4. Check the Spelling in the presentation to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: You should find and correct at least one spelling error. Ignore proper nouns.)

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, then exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
