A project plan is the step-by-step process to help guide future planning, or a guide that is used to execute the project. A project network is a graphical diagram “of the sequence, interrelationships, and dependencies of all the activities that must be accomplished to complete the project” (Larson & Gray, 2018, Pg174). Additionally, a project network diagram lays out the paths for the groups of tasks, such as critical paths and what tasks need to take first priority in order to move on to the following dependent tasks. Almost every project has a network diagram and a project plan. I feel that a large project may not run smoothly without a project network and project plan, however small project can be accomplished without a project network, this might occur when a project has similar tasks that have been replicated several time for past projects. Think of taking a course in college without a syllabus, the course is the project and the syllabus is the plan that guides the direction and process of the course such as a network diagram does in projects.

After last weeks content and reading this weeks chapters I feel that it is still important to create a Work Breakdown Structure, Although there is more detail in the project network, the deliverables are more concrete. It allows for each of the objectives to be more precise and the team to know what has to happen and within what time frame and budget. The project network is crucial and is considered a very valuable, if not one of the most valuable, part of the project. But the way I am understanding the process is that all of the components work together to ensure project effectiveness and success. The two parts of this is that the WBS will allow for all of the deliverables to be broken down and the network describes the activities and scheduling. For example if the project requires step by step, department related activities, the WBS will line those out as to what all has to be done and the network will give a detailed time line in activity expectations.
