The bias can either be a confirmation bias that occurs when an individual decides to perform data analysis the way he wants to prove a particular predetermined assumption or selection bias. In selection bias, the data is selected subjectively to meet a certain desired outcome. Most of the people like unbiased information. Therefore, the media should separate politics from their coverage. This is important for a healthy democracy. When citizens are fed with neutral news by neutral media, they are able to make decisions and get the best results from good leaders. Therefore, having alternative media is crucial because it is easy to identify which media gives biased news. Therefore, it does not matter if media sources have a bias if there are alternative views found throughout the media.

            The media has more influence on the government. The media is covered by laws that protect it from much influence by the government. The government cannot exploit its subjects where the media has a strong voice. This is because the media does request to cover news, but it has the right to do so. This translates to more influence on government. Government officials cannot misuse their offices because of the media. The media protects the citizens by airing everything for the government to take action. Therefore, the media influences the government to remain focused on its duties and responsibilities. If the media is strong, people stay updated bout government proceedings. They are made aware of their rights by the media. This enables them to know when they are being exploited by government officials. Thus, there cannot be mistreatment of people, especially minority groups, since the media will report and influence people to take action. Therefore, the media has more influence on the government than the way the government has influence over it.

            It is important to have a free and independent media to maintain democracy. When the media is free and independent, leaders' malpractices are reported because they will have no power to influence what should be reported in the media. Free and independent media means it is fully controlled by the government. Therefore, it acts as a watch-dog to enhance transparency and accountability. A free and independent media promote democracy by allowing the voice of the people to be heard by the government. This contributes to human development by pushing the government to be responsive to public concerns. Thus, free and independent media promotes democracy by setting a platform where people can air their views. It also encourages the rule of law, regulatory equality, and government efficiency and minimizes corruption. Therefore, the media promotes inclusivity and political freedoms. Free and independent media integrates the process of democratization and good governance with human development. The more the media is independent and free, the more governance is better. Free and independent media is associated with levels of democracy. Thus, it is important to have free and independent media to maintain democracy.
